Rashanna x Shateshia (Lucy X Mavis) started this travel initiative in 2016 without even knowing. Rashanna invited Shateshia to Barbados for Crop Over to experience this carnival but also to make the connection between Barbadian "Bajan" and the Geechie (Charleston. SC) cultures. Through this experience they bonded over shared language and traditions. They quickly realized that others would benefit from carnival experiences that are rooted in cultural immersion.
Bottom Line: "We are two #Fetesetters up in de people's fete and bringing you along!"

I really enjoyed my trip. I’ve been to Charleston plenty of times before, but I’ve never visited places beyond King St. and the beach. Charleston has so much to offer and the coordinators did a great job of making sure that we experienced something new and different each day.

This trip allowed me to connect with my Charleston roots. This was my 1st time being a tourist in where my family has so many connections to the history and foundation of the city.
A DEDICATION TO MY FAMILY LEGACY
In June 2016 Rashanna had one of her final conversations with her grandmother. They talked about how Rashanna enjoys and good at planning trips and activities. Rashanna gets this from her mother, definitely. Her grandmother mentions that her great-grandmother also planned trips for the church and local neighborhood. That established lineage and connection. From her grandmother, Rashanna gets her love of helping others, being a cheerleader and an advocate for what’s right. Rashanna knew then that she wanted to create a way to do something that she loved, make money, and honor her family.
Fast forward to 2017, Rashanna was looking through a photo album and saw her mom and our cousins wearing a shirt that said "U.F.O." and learned that it stood for
United Family Organization (clearly this was the 70s). She knew that was the name immediately not just because it pays homage to her family but it also encompasses what she feels travel should be- a way to unite people as family, experience culture, and make connections.

Rashanna has been traveling domestically and internationally since she was a child. Her parents taught her to always respect and support the local people and culture. And it’s one of the ways that she found herself as a Black woman in this world. She believes that others can do the same with a well-thought, curated Xperience. United Family Organization (UFO) will not only support your site-seeing and social media sharing goals, but we will also support connections to local people, industry, and culture.

OUR STORY
Vocal A.C.T.I.O.N., LLC was founded in June 2015 by Rashanna Roach, current Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The original goal of the company was simple- to amplify the voices for Black people. Since starting in 2015, the company has a diverse portfolio of impactful services that include grant writing, public relations, philanthropic activities, communications, project management, business mentoring, training, and intentional networking events. After several years of allowing the business to grow within its original goal organically, the company has cemented itself and its work within the specialities of strategy and social impact consulting. It's simple for us. We call our clients partners because they partner with us to achieve our mission and share our commitment. And through this partnership we connect them to resources and expertise to achieve their goals.
